Privacy Policy

Circled LLC is the data controller for the personal information described in this Policy. This Privacy Policy explains how Circled LLC ("Circled," "we," "us") collects, uses, and protects your personal information when you use joincircled.com and the Circled in Light community platform (together, "the Platform"). The Platform is designed for women who are separated, divorced, widowed, single, facing an empty nest, or otherwise navigating life solo, including women who feel alone within a marriage. We keep this simple, because our approach is simple: we collect the minimum, we never sell it, and you stay in control.

1. What we collect
When you sign up we ask for your email address, first and last name, city, and country. Anything beyond that (a photo, a bio, your posts and messages inside the community) is entirely optional and shared at your discretion. We also receive basic technical information (browser type, approximate region) necessary to operate the site securely.

2. What we use it for
To create and manage your membership; to send you the welcome sequence and community updates you consented to; to operate the community platform, chapters, and events; to keep the Platform safe and enforce the Circle Code; and to comply with legal obligations. We do not use your data for third-party advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone. Ever.

3. Legal bases (for members in the EU/EEA and UK)
We process your data on the basis of your consent (which you may withdraw at any time), the performance of our agreement with you (providing the community you joined), and our legitimate interest in operating the Platform safely.

4. Who processes it on our behalf
We use a small number of trusted service providers strictly to run the Platform: Mailchimp (email), Netlify (website hosting), Mighty Networks (community platform), and Stripe (payment processing, when applicable; Circled never stores your card details). Each processes your data only on our instructions and under their own security and privacy commitments. Some providers are located in the United States; where required, transfers rely on recognized safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. Cookies
We use only essential cookies required to make the site function. We do not run advertising cookies. If we ever introduce analytics, we will ask for your consent first through the cookie banner.

6. How long we keep it
For as long as you are a member, and for a short period afterwards as required for legal and administrative purposes. If you ask us to delete your data, we will do so without undue delay, except where the law requires us to retain specific records.

7. Your rights
You may at any time: access the data we hold about you; correct it; ask for it to be deleted; withdraw your consent; object to or restrict processing; and receive a copy in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@joincircled.com. We will respond within 30 days. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. US state privacy rights (including California)
If you live in California or another US state with a consumer privacy law, you have rights similar to those described above: to know what personal information we collect and how we use it; to access it; to correct it; to delete it; and to opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information. Circled does not sell your personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right remains yours. We will never treat you differently for exercising any privacy right. To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@joincircled.com; we will respond within the timeframe required by your state's law.

9. Confidentiality inside the community
What you share inside Circled in Light is visible only to members. Every member agrees to the Circle Code, which makes confidentiality a condition of membership. Please remember, however, that no community platform can absolutely guarantee the conduct of every individual; share at the level you are comfortable with.

10. Security
We use reputable providers, encryption in transit, and access controls appropriate to a community of our size. No system is perfectly secure; if we ever become aware of a breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by law.

11. Age
The Platform is for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

12. Changes
If we make material changes to this Policy, we will notify active members by email before the changes take effect.
